Fans can’t get enough of Ransom Canyon.
Netflix released the second season of its Western drama on July 23, picking up six months after Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) left for New York. Her return forces Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) to rethink what matters most, shifting his focus from protecting his family’s land to repairing his relationship with the woman who knows him best.
“All of our stories come from those three places: What are you leaving behind? Who do you love? What does home and this place, this land mean to you?” creator April Blair told Tudum.
She continued, “Love is at the forefront this season, and it’s really about people fighting for those relationships and fighting to figure out how to be with the person they want to be with.”
Though the new season has only just arrived, viewers are already wondering whether there’s more story left to tell.
So, will there be a Ransom Canyon season 3? Here’s everything to know about the future of the Netflix drama and what the cast has said about continuing their roles.

Netflix has not renewed Ransom Canyon for a third season.
The Texas-set drama was picked up for a second season in June 2025, two months after the streamer debuted its inaugural season, per Deadline.
In addition to the show’s popularity — its first season spent four weeks in the Global Top 10 TV list — fans can take comfort in knowing there’s plenty of source material left to cover.
Ransom Canyon is based on an eight-book series by Jodi Thomas, though Blair has made several changes to the original storyline.

“[Blair] turned these characters and my story into a compelling, bingeable series,” the author told Today in April 2025. “And I love the subplots and twists she’s added.”
Who might return for Ransom Canyon season 3?
Because the series hasn’t been renewed, casting for the third season of Ransom Canyon isn’t confirmed.
However — barring any season 2 tragedies like the season 1 loss of Cap Fuller (James Brolin) — most of the main cast would likely reprise their roles, including Kelly and Duhamel.
Season 2 also introduced a few new characters to Ransom Canyon, including Staten’s half-brother, Levi (Steve Howey), and Quinn’s new romantic connection Oliver (Ben Robson).

Though most of the cast and crew of Ransom Canyon have been mum about the show’s future, Kelly did open up about what she’d like to see for her character in future seasons.
The actress teased that the second season was “a lot lighter and funner” during a July 2026 appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, prompting host Kelly Ripa to ask, “They could never really get together because they need to, for many seasons, have the will they or won’t they, right?”
“Season 3, they might,” Kelly said, per Decider. “What I’m looking forward to discovering is sort of what happens when you do actually get together because anyone can fall in love and fall in lust.”
The actress continued, “But it’s when you actually do get together, and you create a home together, and you find out the ugliest parts of each other, and you still choose each other. And what does that look like?”
