Tiger Woods will miss all four major championships this year after it was confirmed he did not submit an entry for the Open Championship in August.
The golf headlines this week have been dominated by Woods, after he made a brief return to Florida to support his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and to attend her daughter, Kai Trump's high school graduation. He also recently broke his silence on social media to pay tribute to his dad.
Woods has since returned to Zurich, Switzerland, following his trip to Florida, where he has been undergoing rehab following his DUI arrest. Back in March, Woods announced he would be taking an indefinite leave from golf prior to the 2026 Masters. The incident in Florida saw the 15-time major winner flip his Land Rover, with Woods arrested and charged with a DUI following the incident.

The 50-year-old returned to golf before the Masters earlier this year, making an appearance at the TGL finals. That appearance marked the first time he had returned to action in over a year following a series of operations that left him sidelined.
In March 2025, Woods ruptured his Achilles tendon before the Masters, which saw him miss all four majors that year. Then, in October, he also had lumbar disk replacement surgery.

While he was targeting the 2026 Masters to make his major return, the DUI and ensuing fallout meant he opted against playing at Augusta National, with Woods entering rehab in Switzerland.

Woods missed the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club earlier this month and is not exempt for next month's U.S. Open, with Woods also not opting to attempt qualifying for the major at Shinnecock Hills.
Sports Illustrated also reports that Woods has not submitted an entry for the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, marking the second consecutive year he will not play in a major tournament.
Having won the Open in 2000, 2005, and 2006, Woods has an exemption until he is 60.
And with him not having submitted an entry for the August major, it means Woods has not played competitively on the PGA Tour since the 2024 Open, when he missed the cut at Royal Troon.

While it remains to be seen when Woods will make his return to golf, he said to be taking the steps "to get healthy and move forward in his life," according to People.
A source told the outlet about Woods' ongoing rehabilitation in Switzerland, "He wants to feel better and play golf. He wants to live a good life and be with those he loves. This is what he has to do to get to that point."
