The Jonas Brothers Recall Their Early Days of Dating and Say They Disliked When Girls 'Play It Cool' at Their Shows

The Jonas Brothers aren't fans of nonchalance.

During the Wednesday, May 27 episode of their Hey Jonas! podcast, the boy band invited Teddy Swims to join and they discussed having a "person of interest (POI)" in the audience at their shows.

"Back in the day when I was single — I've been married for almost eight years, [but] Joe's been dating and all that. When you invite somebody to the show, a POI, and after they try to do the play it cool thing, they're just like, 'It was cool,'" Nick Jonas, 33, said.

"Missed opportunity — don't do that," Kevin Jonas, 38, interjected as the group got riled up.

"I don't need you to be like, 'It was amazing!' But just some feedback," Nick said, as Joe Jonas, 36, added: "You're cooked."

Then, Joe recalled an instance where he invited a girl to a show in Paris and he said she was "texting on her phone backstage."

"I was like, 'Hey, like, so what did you think?'" he said. "Internally I'm like, 'Did you just ask her what you thought of the show?' Cooked. I don't need you to be a superfan. Just don't play it cool," Joe said.

Nick concluded the conversation by noting that they're not looking for superfan energy — just someone who's excited about their music.

"It was a game changer when my wife came to the show. She was just so supportive, giving back. The first show it was like, 'That's amazing.' She was really invested in this thing that I care so deeply about with me. That's what we're saying," Nick said.

Nick married Priyanka Chopra in 2018 and they now share 4-year-old daughter Malti Marie. In December, he celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary in a sweet social media post where he called her his "dream girl."

Kevin married Danielle Jonas in December 2009 and they welcomed daughter Aleena Rose in 2014 and Valentina Angelina in 2016. Earlier this month, he released his second solo song "Little Things" — and it honors the aspects of his marriage he loves the most.

Joe recently went Instagram-official with girlfriend Tatiana Gabriela and a source previously told PEOPLE that they "first started to get to know each other late last summer." Their romance follows his divorce from Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, which was finalized in 2024. Jonas and Turner share daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3.
