Star Wars fans will soon have a new way to experience the original film trilogy, with even more releases planned for next year. While George Lucas’ trilogy has been remastered and rereleased before, Lucasfilm is taking a different approach aimed at readers and audiobook listeners.

Following this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Lucasfilm announced that it will release the first unabridged audiobook editions of the original Star Wars novelizations. The novels will be narrated by Marc Thompson, and all three will be released on February 2, 2027. Beyond that, multiple new books were also announced, including graphic novels.

Here is the full list of all new Star Wars books announced after Comic-Con (via StarWars.com):

That’s not all, as Lucasfilm will also rerelease the original 1977 Star Wars: A New Hope to celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary. A newly restored version of the film will play in theaters from February 19, 2027, for a limited time. The company did not reveal what improvements have been made to the restored version.

The film’s original release did not have the subtitle “A New Hope”. Since its release, the original theatrical version has been screened very rarely. In the years after it came out, Lucas famously made alterations to the film, with the version being the one most fans are familiar with. The 2027 rerelease will give fans a restored version of the film in theaters.

Lucasfilm will release the first unabridged audiobook editions of the original Star Wars trilogy novelizations, narrated by Marc Thompson, in February 2027.
