Roman Reigns Praised for ‘Masterful’ Performance as Penta Match Hits Milestone

Roman Reigns’ latest World Heavyweight Championship defense has received strong praise from one of WWE’s most respected wrestling minds.
His match against Penta on RAW also reached an impressive milestone online, giving the Mexico City showdown plenty to talk about after the bell.
Reigns defeated Penta in the main event of the Sept. 14 episode of RAW at Arena CDMX, retaining his championship after a Superman Punch and Spear. According to data compiled by EliteRockerz, videos from the match surpassed 74 million views across WWE’s social media platforms in less than 15 hours.
The match marked RAW’s first return to Mexico City in 15 years, with the crowd firmly behind Penta. The challenger pushed Reigns throughout the bout and came close to an upset after hitting the Penta Driver and a springboard Mexican Destroyer.
William Regal calls Roman Reigns and Penta match “masterful”
William Regal was particularly impressed by Reigns’ performance. The longtime WWE talent development executive took to X and encouraged wrestlers to study the champion’s work closely.

“If any talent of any standard want to really up their quality of drawing in your audience then study in great detail Roman Reigns facials, reacting … and body motion from last nights bout against Penta on Raw,” Regal wrote. “Masterful.”
Regal specifically highlighted Reigns’ facial expressions, reactions, and body movement. One notable moment came when Penta attacked Reigns’ injured arm with the Sacrifice, with the champion selling the danger through his expression and movement.
Reigns eventually weathered the storm and kept the title, but his night wasn’t finished. After RAW went off the air, LA Knight attacked him with a BFT.
WWE has since confirmed Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Knight at Money in the Bank on Oct. 10 in New Orleans. The OTC may have survived Penta, but the next chapter is already locked and loaded.
