Pride in Hull celebrates 25 years with city parade

Hundreds of people have celebrated 25 years of Hull Pride with a parade making its way across the city.
Pride in Hull, which took place on Saturday and which champions members of the local LGBTQ+ community, started out as a small event in Queens Gardens in 2002.
Andy Train, one of the organisers, said the event brought more than £1m to the local economy every year, adding that "we welcome everyone".
"It can be quite a lonely world being LGBT+, if you don't have good families and good friends. Allies are very important," he said.
" I think that's what we've captured in Hull by having a Pride like this."

The city centre celebrations included a parade, stalls, music and stage performances.

Harry Bradford, from Hull Roundheads, an inclusive rugby team, who took part in the parade, said he believed visibility was really important.
"I think, now more than ever, our communities are under attack, both locally and nationally."

Meanwhile, Stuart Cutts, from the NHS Humber Health Partnership, said everyone of all ages had had fun at this year's event.
"It doesn't matter," he said.
"Nobody cares and, actually, to have so much positivity, it's really, really nice."
