Even someone as cool as Joe Jonas isn't immune to a bad audition.

The middle Jonas Brother recently recalled his experience totally bombing while trying out for the *Wicked* movie and Apple TV's Emmy-winning drama *The Morning Show.*

"It was *The Morning Show*. It was my callback, and it was to play a young anchor that they have in the show," Joe revealed on the latest episode of *Hey Jonas, *his podcast with brothers Nick and Kevin.

Nick then chimed in to note that the character would have been a "love interest" for Jennifer Aniston's Alex Levy.

Kevin described the character as a "right-wing-y podcast host guy," seeming to suggest that the part was for Brodie "Bro" Hartman, a conservative podcaster played by Boyd Holbrook who has a dalliance with Alex in season 4.

"Long story short, I show up early and they're like, 'Oh!'" Joe recalled. "And they did this thing, which was very kind, but… They were like, 'Oh, we have a private room for you.' I was like, 'Okay…'"

He then called the space "the saddest room you can imagine."

"It was just these little blinds. All the lights were off and they didn't work," he said. "And I could hear, clear as day, all the guys auditioning... And these guys were crushing it. Like, 'Ah-ha! Oh my God!' I didn't bring headphones, so I'm literally sitting in silence, reading the lines."

He continued, explaining that when it finally came time for his audition, he was too confident and paid the price. "I go in and I just… I crash and burn," Joe said. "I can't even. I did a terrible thing. They were like, 'Oh, you can read off paper for this if you want.' I'm like, 'I got it.' I'm like, 'I'm good.'"

Spoiler alert: He was not good. "It was literally like, I don't even know what I'm auditioning for, just like me forgetting the name of *The Morning Show*," he recalled. "It was just gone from me. It was such a bad audition. I was like, 'Ugh.'"

Joe, who has acted in the Disney movies *Camp Rock* and *Camp Rock 2* and in the war film *Devotion*, added that he had a similar experience trying out for an unnamed role in *Wicked*, calling the audition "a bit of a strange one because there was, like, incredible theater vocalists I could hear clear as day."

Joe wasn't alone. Nick shared his own anecdote about embarrassing himself in front of a director for a "big movie," and Kevin revealed that a casting director once put him on blast.

"I had an audition once when we were younger and the guy that was auditioning me said — to me, in the room — 'Maybe we try it a different way because I can clearly tell that you don't have any acting experience,'" the eldest Jonas recalled.

In response, Joe let out a groan of sympathy as Nick acknowledged that the comment must have been "tough" to hear.

"I was like, 'Well, okay!'" Kevin said. "'I guess I'm not getting this role!'"
