Catherine O'Hara received widespread acclaim for her frantic performance in *The Studio* — and her turn in the Hollywood satire series proved to be her final screen role before her death.
A representative for the late *Schitt's Creek* star tells ** that O'Hara's final projects were *The Studio* season 1 and *The Last of Us* season 2, which both entered production in early 2024 and premiered in spring 2025. O'Hara's last performance ultimately came in the season 1 finale of *The Studio*, which premiered May 21 on Apple TV, just three days after her concluding appearance in season 2, episode 6 of HBO's *The Last of Us*.
Apple TV renewed *The Studio* for a second season shortly after the first season's debut, and the show went back into production this month. EW has reached out to representatives for Apple and a representative for O'Hara for further information on the actress' planned involvement in the show.

Following O'Hara's death Friday at 71, *The Sun* reported that a source close to *The Studio*'s production said O'Hara was intended to appear in the early scenes of season 2 but pulled out of filming due to "personal matters."
"She was scheduled to film, but they reworked the schedule to focus on scenes without her character," the source told the tabloid. "I don't believe she ever filmed anything for season two."
In season 1, O'Hara portrayed Patty Leigh, the former head of Continental Studios who was ousted by CEO Griffin Mill (Bryan Cranston) and replaced by her mentee Matt Remick (Seth Rogen). Patty remains in Matt's orbit as a producer on a handful of Continental projects, and recurs throughout the majority of the season.

O'Hara's death came after a brief illness; a cause has not been disclosed.
While speaking with EW ahead of *The Studio*'s series premiere, Kathryn Hahn, who portrays kooky marketing head Maya Mason, shared how much she idolized O'Hara as a comedic actress.
"I didn't get to work as much as I would've dreamed with O'Hara, but every time I saw her do anything, I admired her choices," Hahn said. "Her choices were surprising and also completely right, and I just respect the s‑‑‑ out of her as a comedic performer that has such integrity to the center of who she's playing."

Chase Sui Wonders, Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, and Catherine O'Hara in 'The Studio' season 1.
Rogen — also the show's co-creator, producer, and co-director — shared a tribute to O'Hara on Instagram on Friday.
"Really don’t know what to say… I told O'Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I'd ever had the pleasure of watching on screen," he reflected. "*Home Alone* was the movie that made me want to make movies. Getting to work with her was a true honour. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous… she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it. This is just devastating. We're all lucky we got to live in a world with her in it."

Ike Barinholtz, who portrays executive Sal Saperstein on the series, also posted a tribute to his late costar. "I never in a million years thought I would get to work with Catherine O'Hara let alone become friends with her. So profoundly sad she's somewhere else now," he wrote. "So incredibly grateful I got to spend the time I did with her. Thank you Catherine I love you."
