A Toxic Love Story viewers dub Ian Diaz's friend 'delusional' as she pleads his innocence

Fans of Netflix's A Toxic Love Story have called out one of the contributors after she refused to accept the truth about the case despite mountains of evidence.
The documentary, which dropped on July 22, marks the streaming giant's latest true crime offering, with fans delving into the case of Michelle Hadley, her ex-fiancé Ian Diaz, and his wife, Angela Diaz.
The film originally leads viewers to believe that Angela had been attacked in her own home by a man hired by Michelle, who reportedly wanted to wreak havoc on the couple's lives. Michelle is also accused of creating an email account, Lilithistruth, where she'd send Angela threatening messages.

Furthermore, Angela claimed Michelle created a Craigslist account where she would pretend to be the former and tell men that she wanted to enact a "rape fantasy."
One man, Rick, even tells Netflix that he arrived at Angela's home for the sexual experience but felt that something was amiss, so he left and returned home.

However, despite Michelle being blamed for the emails and Craigslist posts, and even being jailed for 88 days, she was never the one behind the shocking communications: It was Angela and Ian.
Police realized that Angela lied about being attacked and about receiving emails from Michelle. Instead, she had sent them to herself to frame her husband's former fiancée. In October 2017, she pleaded guilty to kidnapping and filing false reports, and was sentenced to five years in prison.
But the story doesn't stop there, as the Department of Justice investigated Ian due to his role as a US Marshall. And it's during this investigation that Special Agent Jason Higley spoke to Michelle, who revealed the abuse she allegedly faced at the hands of Ian.
It would then come to light that Ian worked with Angela to execute a calculated attack on Michelle so that she would be arrested and he would be able to fully own the condo they once shared.

IP addresses and more technological evidence proved Ian's guilt, with the former US Marshall also having been accused of being emotionally abusive, controlling, and causing a "daily roller coaster ride" involving extreme financial surveillance and forced sexual fantasies.
However, despite the swathes of evidence and Ian being convicted of conspiracy, cyberstalking, perjury, and obstruction, his best friend refused to accept his guilt.
Leslie, who appears in the documentary, was slammed on social media for her closing remarks about Ian, as she tearfully told the producers, "I could not believe it. I couldn't believe that this was happening."
"I've never felt that sad," she continued, as her eyes welled with tears. "I felt like it was a nightmare. I needed to wake up. I just wanted to wake up."

Leslie then remarked that she doesn't doubt people think she's been "blinded" by her friendship with Ian, noting that they must think she's "missing some deep, dark side of him."
This is when Jason appeared on screen and said he concluded, after his investigation, that Leslie appeared to be in love with Ian Diaz, something she has strongly denied.
Appearing less emotional, Leslie then said, "There is no evidence anyone could show me that would make me doubt Ian's innocence." And this was the line that led Reddit users to call Leslie out.

In a true crime thread, Reddit users discussed Leslie's comments, as one person wrote, "His best friend is sooooooo in love with him lmaoo."
Another then added, "My jaw dropped on the floor...when she still defended him. UNREAL!" Meanwhile, a third person penned, "She was madly in love with him. I guarantee she writes to him in prison every day."
"The other woman who was standing by him for infinity, his 'friend,' I wish she would take off the rose-tinted glasses," hoped a fourth, with a fifth Reddit user simply concluding, "She is so delusional."
